Celebrating Protestant Reformation on a Pagan Holiday?

I’m not judging you. I’m humored by the irony of it all.

Five hundred years ago, Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses or complaints against the Catholic Church to the door of a church in Germany which marked the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. Although it is difficult to pin down the number of protestant religions and doctrines we have today, it is clear that a majority of protestants are members of only a handful of protestant doctrines: Advent, Anglican, Baptist, Calvin, Lutheran, Methodist, and Pentecostal.

Ironically, today is also Halloween, arguably the most recognized and epitome of pagan holidays. The history between the two is bloody and cruel to the point that I feel like I should choose a side.

Now where did I put the robes to my pastor costume?
